Mind and Body Connection
Friday was a killer for me…..no exercise…..and a 15 hour drive….I have a problem with my right hamstring….had to drive with cruise control…and when I wasn’t able to use the cruise….my leg would be in pain….not as young as I used to be…..so the drive took its toll
Saturday morning I was feeling really tight…..after 2 cups of coffee and prescription strength ibuprofen…..I was slightly ready to go out for my walk/jog…..I needed to pay attention to my body and not my mind….my body was telling me….you need to take it easy…..more walking less jogging….the mind is saying today is your long day…..plus you missed yesterday…..start my walk….and at the second stop sign I usually start my jog….my body said not ready…..so I continued walking….normally by the 1/2 mile my body is feeling good and the mind is cleared of the cob webs….not happening…this continued throught my work out session….
you really need to listen what your body is telling you…..like when you body is tired….your mind takes over convinces you can push yourself and ignore getting rest….eventually the body speaks louder and there are consequences to pay….
when you are eating correctly…..the body is telling you it likes it…you’re peaceful and energetic….but the mind tells you it wants more food or food that is not healthy…..the body then tells you its going to get fatter and sluggish…..
When I went to the gym yesterday I did light weights and light cardio….I felt pretty good taking it easier yesterday….the light workouts is what the body needed yesterday……and today I feel stronger and will most likely have stronger workouts….
You really need to listen to both your mind and your body….you need to realize which one is telling the truth…..somedays the body is doing good and the mind is telling lies….you can’t work out today you have too many things to do….go ahead eat that donut nothing will happen to you….
It is important that you exercise the mind…..I read every day, meditate and do yoga twice a week…..I find that if I ignore the mind……my thinking gets out of whack…..and the body follows….
Great blog! My mind can be a definite liar! You are so right
You are so right, I am SLOWLY learning to listen to my body. Thanks for the reminder!
